Our family has this little cafe we go to.  We’ve been going there for years.  The entire staff know our names, what we order, our dogs name and over the years we’ve shared the ups and downs of our lives.

Every time I go in there it feels like seeing friends, it’s a relationship that I value and because of that I spend “A LOT” of money there and love telling all my friends about it.

When I contrast the feeling I get going there versus going to my local supermarket,  things couldn’t be more opposite. 

At the supermarket, no one knows me and it seems like there’s a different pre pubescent teenager on the register every time I visit.  My visits there are more transactional.

Great businesses foster strong relationships…NOT transactions (that’s important…you might want to read that again!).

I’ll be the first to admit that social media has it’s challenges (have you seen the Social Dilemma…it’s terrifying!) but one of the upsides is it ability to help us connect and build relationships with a large amount of people in our local community.
