Ep436. The CEO Code, Part 6: How to Attract, Keep, and Elevate a High-Performing Team

If you’re feeling like your team can’t function without you—or you’re struggling to attract and keep great people—this episode is a must-listen.

Culture isn’t just a buzzword. It’s one of the most powerful levers a chiropractic CEO has—and it directly impacts performance, retention, and growth. But most chiropractors don’t lead culture intentionally. Instead, they default to managing people reactively, and end up stuck in a cycle of micromanagement, frustration, and staff turnover.

In this episode, we reframed culture as a core leadership responsibility—and broke it down into three practical pillars you can implement right away:

  1. Set the Standard – Culture thrives on clarity. When your team knows what success looks like, has the right training, and is aligned around shared expectations, they can take ownership and perform with confidence.
  2. Create the Container – Culture needs safety. Your tone, consistency, feedback, and emotional presence shape the trust and belonging your team experiences. High performance is built on strong emotional foundations.
  3. Live the Mission – Culture needs meaning. Your practice values and purpose must be more than just words on a poster. They should guide daily decisions, shape team rituals, and be celebrated regularly. You are the chief storyteller.

We also explored why great team members today are looking for more than just a paycheck. They want to feel part of something meaningful, enjoyable, and aligned with their own values.

Action Step: Choose one of the three pillars—standard, container, or mission—and identify a small action you can take this week to strengthen it. Whether it’s updating a job description, giving feedback with compassion, or sharing a values-based story in your team meeting, these small acts create big cultural momentum.
