Ep154. Is Your Body Language Pushing Clients Away? Louise Mahler

Did you know that research shows that non verbal skills carry over 4 times the weight of words?  What this means is that we can be saying all the right things but our body/posture and gestures  can be projecting a completely different message.

 Amazing…right!!

I’ll be the first to admit that I put a lot of effort into my words but I almost never think about the silent but powerful messages by body language is sharing.

My guest today is Dr Louise Mahler and she’s an expert in body language, voice and emotion.  She has a PhD in business, and degrees and masters in organisational psychology as well as music.

In today’s episode Louise pulls back the curtains and shares with us how to make sure our non verbal communication isn’t turning people away.

This episode is CHOCK FULL of fabulous tips that will help you to improve your presentations and communication skills.  Here’s some of what we covered:

  • why it’s important to start you video/presentation with movement followed by stillness
  • the right way to use your hands, what gestures to make and what ones you MUST stop
  • learn why Louise thinks authenticity can be totally misleading (this was a totally new way of looking at things for me)

Louise’s suggestions were simple, made total sense and you’ll be able to implement them right away.

P.S. This is actually a great episode to watch rather than listen to if possible.  Lots of what Louise shares will make WAY more sense when you can see her.  Enjoy!

Ep152. Is Your Body Language Pushing Clients Away? Louise Mahler

While completing her awarded PhD, Louise observed a missing ingredient in corporate leadership, an understanding of the mind-body-voice connection she calls Vocal Intelligence. By helping people to develop the skills behind each she is able to create discernible, positive change. Added to her understanding of the psychology behind high-stake engagements and the structures for handling emotion, these became the foundation of the Mahler Method, a program for leaders who wish to excel.

Mahler is an expert in body language, voice and emotion, with a PhD in business, and degrees and masters in organisational psychology as well as music. Her skills as a master practitioner in neuro-linguistic programming combine with her professional performance experience on the worldwide opera stage to give her a unique perspective on what presence and authority entail.
